Submitting to Blinking Cursor Literary Magazine

Blinking Cursor welcomes many diverse styles and subjects. Poems do not have a word limit, but short stories should be no more than 1,000 words. Content should be PG-13, so no disturbing violence or erotica. When submitting a poem or story, please also include a short biography (one or two sentences) which will appear in the magazine. If you do not provide a biography upon submission, it will be assumed that you do not wish to have one in the magazine.

How many pieces of work can I send?

You may send up to three poems and two stories but no more than one of these will be selected for publication. If you send more than three poems, only the first three will be read. Please only send one email, containing the maximum of three poems and two stories.

Will I be paid?

Unfortunately we cannot offer any payment or complimentary copies of the magazine for authors at this time. However, all issues are available to download for free.

What about rights?

For pieces we publish, you grant us non-exclusive rights to print, publish, distribute, and sell copies of the work in printed form in the English language throughout the world. We may edit, add to, and delete from the work as we wish, and your work will be sent back to you to make sure you are happy with how it will appear in the magazine. You may publish your work in other mediums if you choose. Any compensation you receive from other mediums remains yours in whole. Please bear in mind that if you do wish to submit your work to another publisher, they may not look favourably on work which has already been published elsewhere.
